Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the results. Oldham County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is retained as needed to prepare and send a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive limited technical information whenever a page loads, including:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring site, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the length of each visit
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them, together with analytics services, to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages receive the most visits and where visits end. You may block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so can change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the applicable partner service
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Understanding which pages visitors use and where improvements may help
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Oldham County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material identifies official access points, including the Oldham County Sheriff's Office, the county and district courts, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a search tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Read those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Oldham County Sheriff's Office, local court resources, the Texas DPS Crime Records Division, the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry, TDCJ, legal-aid resources, or an outside search service. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select targeted advertisements. That processing takes place on the providers' systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when disclosure is compelled by a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the site
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query you submit
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security measures intended to protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with your location and the law that applies. In Texas, the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs requests for existing records held by covered government bodies. It does not convert this privately operated site into a government records custodian. Government Code Chapter 411 separately controls access to and disclosure of Texas criminal-history record information. Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify a request, you may:
- Opt out of certain forms of data processing
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Request a copy of personal information we hold about you
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as the site or its practices change. Any revision will appear here with an updated effective date, so review this page periodically for the current terms.
